Name: Hayabusa Special, From Japanese anime "Machine Peregrine" (Machine Hayabusa). Toei Animation.
Year: 1976.
Length: Unknown.
Pilot: Ken Hayabusa
Driving system: It's a normal car with a steer, gears, pedal etc.
Material: Unknown. Probably classical materials of real race cars.
Weapons: No one! This is a car, not a military vehicle.
Vehicle: In the races Hayabusa is always with the other cars of Sayongi racing team. I don't know the names of the other cars.
Friends: Sayongi (owner of the racing team with his name), Mutzu, Kamikaze, Gantetzu, Sakura, Yamato (mechanic), Sakura.
Enemies: Black Shadow racing team. Hajaba Mobildick, Baron, Mephist (mechanic of Black shadow).
Notes:
Years are past since when I saw Machine Peregrine on TV. I was a child so I don't remember almost everything but something is still clear in my mind. I remember very well the engines that can be changed, the pilot with his strange helmet, the strange flying carrier of the Sayongi racing team.
The thing I remember most is obviously the car. A huge white car, aggressive and strange for his shape and the cockpit separated from the rest of the car body.
The anime of Machine Hayabusa is one of my favorite, I'm a great fan of robot anime but also this anime had a great fascination for me. Maybe the reason is that this is a Go Nagai's anime! I didn't knew it when I was a child, this is a demonstration that Go Nagai's works are different from all the others also when they are not related to robots. The secret of Go Nagai is to free the dreams of the young spectator, every child have dream to drive Hayabusa and became the great champion of world races!

Technical notes:

Techniques: There is something important to say before all. This model is slightly different from the original Hayabusa. The reason is that I choose to make it more modern, more similar to the Formula1 racing car of nowadays. That's the reason why I add "ver.GS" (version Gianni Soldati) to its name. The cockpit is completely different and is based on the Ferrari cockpit used in Formula1 in 1986 (I have a lot of photograph of the car).
I'm very proud of this model, it's not very complicated to do but I like the final result. The parts on right and left are polygonal but they were created starting with a subpatch. Instead the central part with the cockpit is a huge unique subpatch so that the lines flow smoothly for all the car body without cease.

What lacks: Dashboard and details on the steering wheel. I want to model also all the engines of the car.
Notes:
I tried to achieve good and realistic textures. This car have a lots of different materials, glass, plastic, car paints, rubber, chrome, titanium, fibers, fabrics, burned metals, shiny metals etc.
My biggest problems: I had to use Deeppaint to paint the red texture around the cockpit (I'm talking about the nose of the car with the yellow eyes). Actually the subpatch usually cause distortions in the textures. At the end the result is quite good but not perfect, sorry!

Engines:
Hayabusa can change his engine. The engines name were V1, V2, V3, V4 and V5. The number represent the number of turbines the engines has.
These are the characteristic of every engines
(I found this data here :http://www.listacartoni.it/index.asp)
V1: reactor break gear.
V2: flying capabilities.
V3: the most powerful engine, it generates a green flame.
V4: used for race full of curves.
V5: it has all the characteristics of the other engines.

Tires:
I put a special effort in the tires. The reason is that I needed a good tire to use in all my future car model. So I studied real tires and brakes from real and from photograph. The thread is done using only textures, without modeling, the bump is

Pictures of the original car
I want to show you a few pictures of the original car. The pictures comes from the videocd and from the cover of the 45rounds vinyl of the song. Ad you can see my model is very similar to the original except for a few details. Hayabusa is a typical 80's race car, full of wings, rounded body, big lights. The engine in the pictures is always V1 except for the first picture in which is V4.

Animation:
Hayabusa Special
I'm very proud of this little animation.
I choose carefully the scenes, the music, the initial and ending titles. I also tried to synchronize the camera to the music. The music is an heavy metal version of the original Japanese tune of Machine Hayabusa played by the Animetal.
A few data about the animation: file dimension 7,88mb, video dimension 640*480, div511 avi compression, mp3 music compression, length 47sec.

Checkered floor (15/03/04)
My idea was to copy one of the frame of the initial title of the anime. You can see the frame on the right. Nothing more to say, it's a very simple scene.

Bridge scene (13/03/04)
This pictures is similar to the first in this page. The car is on a simple bridge in a sunny day. I used Overcaster for the filling lights and a distant light for the sun. Depth of field is simulated in Photoshop making a render for the car and a different render for the background. The I composed the renders in Photoshop and I used Gaussian blur on the background layer.
