Description (11/08/08)
When I was a child I had a plastic laser gun toy that I believed it was Captain Future gun. It had lights and it did many sci-fi noises ! One day I said to myself: I want to model it in 3d!
I lloked for images of the Captain Future gun from the homonymous Toei cartoon and I discovered that it was very different from my old toy! Only the overall shape was the same, slender, composed of cylinders but for the rest it was very different..
My version of the gun has more details of the original and also I have tried to give a meanings also to the details on the original. The great Blue Circle has become a circular led in which you can read parameters and energy levels of the gun.I imagine the small elongated rectangles as clamp to block the rear of the gun or as graduated auctions with a cursor to balance the weapon. I have added many details to the grip that was really blocky.
The cable is composed of metal rings. Render has been modified in post production in Photoshop with photo effects as the depth of field and chromatic aberrations. 3d model, materials and render done in Modo.
These are a few captures from the first episode of Captain Future. Here you can see the original gun in all his beauty.

Description (15/10/05)
When I was a child I saw a Japanese cartoon that really scared me. I was scared because in this movie a little boy reveals to be a robot. He choose to kill himself becoming part of big computer. was very young and this scene really impressed me.
Finally I found this cartoon and finally I have seen that scene again.
That's why I modeled this scene, the same room, the same character, the same discharge.
Marine express is a Osamu Tetsuka movie, the greatest father of Japanese animation, and this is my tribute to his great genius.
The room is 3d, the character (Tetsu Atom) is 2d, all the discharge has been created by hand in Photoshop.
This is the original scene from "Marine express" cartoon. As you can see there are lots of little differences. The most easy to spot is the different kind of electric discharges.

Description (15/10/05)
The object you see in the illustration is the famous "Canna di Rodi". I don't know his English or Japanese name.
It is the scepter that belong to Doctor Hell in MazingerZ Anime. Using the scepter Doctor Hell is able to command his mechanical monster using his voice.
I was learning the program called Modo. I needed a simple object to model and I choose this. I choose a strange material for the scepter, something like a magic metal. Instead the little ball is made of glass. The ends of the scepter are burned because of the electric discharges.
The reference picture of the "Canna di Rodi" is in the final image in the hand of Doctor Hell.

Description (15/10/05)
A mighty object! What you see is the official V-project manual used by Amuro Rei to pilot Gundam in the original series of 1978.
V project was a military project based on three new Mobil suit (Gundam, Guntank, Guncannon) and a new spaceship (White base) able to enter and exit the atmosphere.
In the first episode Amuro Rei found this book. He read it very quickly and so he was able to turn on Gundam and fight for the first time in his life against two Zak.
I modeled this book just to learn Modo (my new 3d program).
This is the original manual just a few second before Amuro Rei pick it up and start reading it.
